Corey has a way of hearing your vision, turning them into goals, and helping you reach them through continuous action. His Bootcamps are intense, and his attention to detail is 2nd to none. Take a moment to read about this rising star on the San Diego fitness scene.
1) When did you begin your career in fitness and health?
My career as a personal trainer began 10 years ago at Professional Fitness Inc, in Bethesda, Md. After gaining experience and a strong client base, our rapid growth allowed us to move into a bigger Downtown Washington DC studio
2) What made you decide on a career in health and fitness?
Upon graduating from College and a few opportunities to try out for a few NFL teams, I found myself in need of a challenging career path. My cousin owned a gym in Maryland and was soon opening a second location in Washington Dc. He offered me an opportunity to train new clients, as well as staying in great physical shape between try outs. After seeing the impact I could have on people’s lives, the rest in history.
3) What the hardest thing a person is new to working out may experience?
I have to stay getting started, and staying motivated. Pushing thru the soreness and boredom while keeping workouts fun and exciting can be a major challenge. I suggest listening to music if you can and also switching up your routines, so your body doesn’t get used to the same old thing. Don’t be afraid to try something new each time you workout.
4) What’s your philosophy on working out?
I think you should be happy in life and enjoy what you do. I use a highly effective method with a unique blend of plyometrics, aerobics, and low –weight high repetition workouts. My programs are designed to help you reach specific fitness goals, while keeping you safe with proper form and technique. “My goal has always been to help people help themselves. Your body is your most priceless possession; you’ve got to take care of it!”- Jack LaLanne
5) How do you motivate your clients to achieve their goals?
I believe positive reinforcements help my clients get thru a tough workout. Being excited about seeing a client reach a goal is priceless, can’t beat it. Being on a journey to a healthy lifestyle is something I take personally, and I feel sending a motivational by any means necessary is my responsibility. I stress that we are a team working together, two is always greater that one and as a “T.E.A.M” = Together We Achieve More!!!
6) How important is diet in regards to working out?
A healthy diet along with exercise is complementary to one another. The food we eat is important because it provides the daily nutrients and vitamins to keep your body functioning. Proper nutrition helps while you exercise and also aides in recovery.
7) What are the 5 foods you should eat while working out?
Exercise depletes critical amino acids such as Glutamine, Valine, Isoleucine, and Leucine. Protein such as chicken, eggs, fish or whey protein helps us replenish our body’s supply of these vital amino acids.
Ask Me About Advocare!!!
Your body also needs carbohydrates. Exercise draws upon your body’s stores of glycogen, which is the storage form of sugar. Glycogen waits in the liver and the muscles, for a signal that sugar is needed. Your body can hold about 1,800 calories of sugar as glycogen, which is plenty to fuel any workout. So unless you are on a carb restricted diet, some slow burning carbs after a workout is a good idea. ( Hint: The best carbs are oatmeal, brown rice, grains like quinoa or amaranth. All vegetables and fruits work as well.
8) Are there any supplements you would suggest?
I use Advocare, which I believe is the best product on the market. Advocare helps me maintain muscle tone, muscle recovery, while supplying me with much needed energy and sharp mental focus. I use my Love for Advocare and professional skills to help you achieve your fitness goals in a safe and effective way. Let me help you take your fitness and nutrition to the next level!!!
9) What does the future hold for Bmorfit?
I’m out to reach as many people as possible to join me in this lifestyle change, and take this journey to health with me. I plan to expand to school fitness, corporate fitness, community fitness, and ultimately World Fitness. My intent is to feed continuously off the energy of those around me, and provide a better way for us to all get collectively healthier. It’s my goal to do just that…
